Victoria
She is a young and amazing designer with ther brand VLouise who cares not only on the design side of the fashion industry but on the business development part as well. She is also helping young entrepreneurs/designers to set up their businesses in Hong Kong through Trend Prediction.
Hi Vicky, Can you explain how you got to Hong Kong and what you are currently working on?
Hi Michael, nice to meet you.I've been to Hong Kong and China many times over my career for factory visits, sourcing and client meetings, but I am here permanently now because my partner was offered a job in HK.
What is the mission of your company?
My mission is to provide accurate, professional information and services to those who want to start or develop their own brand.
What are its strengths compared to others?
My strength is knowledge. I've been in fashion for nearly 20 years and in the UK, a fashion designer does more than draw and design. We look after all aspects of the manufacturing and sourcing as well as trend prediction. In Hong Kong, and other western countries like the US, designers only design. This unfortunately gives them very little knowledge about other areas of the process.
What is the turnover of the company?
I haven't been operating in Hong Kong for more than a year. In the UK however, my previous turnover is around £100K.
What do you like in Hong-Kong?
The culture and the attitude to fashion. They also have the most wonderful architecture and an amazing use of colour and detail in their textiles.
What is the future of the industry according to you?
The large multinational is over. Apart from larger long standing established brands such as couturiers like Dior and Channel, the world is looking for unique and with the revolution of economy in many countries, hand-made and crafted items are becoming more and more popular. More people are setting up their own brands and with the development of technology, more and more people will work for themselves.
Do you have any innovative ideas to develop the company?
I am currently in the process of moving my company from the UK to Hong Kong permanently, so for the near future, I will be concentrating of developing more clients and marketing to promote the business itself. However my main objective for the business will be to set up an office to be able to provide a better quality range of services.
